Instant Launch Keys refer to one-press-buttons that activate special functions of the computer. Instant Launch Keys operate in a cyclic manner. You can easily identify instant launch keys via the icons imprinted on the keyboard. The W-Series instant launch keys are as follows:

Icon
Name/Description
Email Launch
Pressing this button will launch the default email application while Windows is running.
Internet Launch
Pressing this button will launch the default internet browser while Windows is running.
Wireless LAN Switch
Pressing this button will enable/disable the wireless LAN. If this option is not enabled the wireless will not function.

Touchpad Lock
Pressing this button will lock the touchpad. Locking the touchpad will prevent the cursor from moving when typing. To enable the touchpad, press the button again.

Power4 Gear+
The Power4 Gear+ button toggles power savings between various power saving modes. The power saving modes control many aspects of the notebook to maximize performance versus battery time during various events. See description below for information on the available modes.

Power4 Gear+:

When using an AC power adapter, Power4 Gear+ can switch between three modes.

When using battery power, Power4 Gear+ can switch between seven modes.

After applying the AC adapter the notebook will automatically adjust to a proper power mode.
