To enable modem sounds on the WinBook Si/Si2 with Windows 98:

Double Click on the Speaker icon in the lower right corner (next to the clock). Click on the Option menu and choose properties. Select Other, and change the selection in the drop down menu  to Phone, then click Ok. Move the Phone Volume slider all the way to the top, then move it back to the middle. Also make sure the mute button at the bottom of this box is NOT checked. This will enable modem dialing sounds.
